Welcome to Grande Prairie & Area Safe Communities

Safe Communities is a national not for profit organization that funds community campaigns to improve safety - not only in the workplace but wherever people live, learn and play. Paul Kells established the national organization in 1996 after the death of his 19-year-old son in an industrial incident.  Image
Grande Prairie & Area Safe Communities
Grande Prairie & Area Safe Communities started in 1997 through the efforts of Alberta Labour and the Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce. A Steering Committee was formed in 1998 with assistance from Mistahia Health Region (now Peace Country Health), and the City of Grande Prairie . Members were drawn from various agencies, bringing a broad pool of expertise in the area of safety and injury prevention to the table. It is precisely this coalition of many different fields of expertise that ensures the viability of Grande Prairie & Area Safe Communities.
