Youth Programs

Pick your favorite topics!

Programs include hands on learning components and resources to take home.
Ages 10 - 16 years

Program fee $30.00 per session.

Participants are asked to bring a lunch and a filled water bottle to programs.
​Parents are not required to stay for program.

Ages 10 - 16

Safe Communities staff will provide interactive learning about being internet intelligent and staying safe online.
  • Choose your own adventure group activity for internet safety
  • Learn about stranger awareness and common tricks used by online predators
  • Learn about risks of photo and videos posted online
  • Learn about cyberbullying and what to do if it happens to you or someone you know
  • Explore how content consumption can affect mood and self esteem.  How to get help.
  • Password protection
  • Sleep Hygiene and more!
  • participants will bring home an Activity Booklet and resources.

Mindful Moments

Safe Communities staff will provide interactive learning about mindfulness and self-care.
​
  • Learn about mental wellness and physical wellness and why they are both important.
  • Learn about why self-care is and important part of everyday life for our best health.
  • Explore different types of self care. (Physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.)
  • Try out a variety of mindfullness techniques that can help relieve stress and anxiety.
  • Learn how gratitude and affirmations can help boost mood and self-esteem
  • Discuss how these strategies and tools can be used in real life to promote wellness.
  • participants will bring home an Activity Booklet, an affirmation tool kit and resources.

Youth Day Yoga and Meditation program
Yoga and Meditation
Ages 10 - 16 
No Current Sessions Scheduled.
Program fee:  $30.00

Featuring
Yoga with instructor from MY Studios and
Tai Chi with instructor from  Fung Loy Kok Taoist Tai Chi
  • Learn the history of yoga and where it comes from
  • One hour of yoga
  • 30 mins of Tai Chi 
  • Learn about and experience different types of meditation
  • Understanding the mind and body connection
  • Participants will go home with a meditation tool they made in class, as well as yoga and meditation resources.

Note:  Participants should wear clothes suitable for stretching and exercising.

Road to Safety
Ages 10 - 16 
Program fee:  $30.00

Safe Communities staff will provide interactive learning about road safety.
  • Topics covered include bicycle, pedestrian, road, railway and the risks of distraction and impairment when driving.
  • How helmets work and why we should wear one.
  • Basic Bike safety (Hand signals, and other rules of the roads and pathways)
  • Learn about risks of distracted walking.
  • How to be a safe pedestrian.
  •  Distracted and impaired driving portion will consist of activities and special goggles that simulate impairment to learn about risks.
  • Practice road safety skills in safety city for walking and for driving using our pedal cars.
  • How to be safe near railways, including proper crossing for walking or cycling and other safety tips.
​
Bicycles are not required but are welcome.  Must have helmet to ride a bicycle in Safety City.  No helmets required for Pedal cars.
