Safety City Co-ordinator

Grande Prairie and Area Safe Communities is looking for a Safety City Coordinator to assist the Program Coordinator with projects, activities, and programs this summer. We are seeking a cheerful person with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to join our team.
Hours: 30 hours per week for 8 weeks. Flexibility is required to accommodate programming schedules. Occasional weekends.
Wage: $15.00 per hour.
Job Term: July 4, 2018 – August 29, 2018 (8 week term)

POSITION SUMMARY
The Safety City Coordinator will be assisting the Program Coordinator with projects, programs, and activities for Grande Prairie & Area Safe Communities and Safety City.
This role will support our mission to promote public safety and reduce the incidence of injury in Grande Prairie & Area through the maintenance and operation of Safety City and other programs designed to educate the public in safety and injury prevention.

- between 15 years up to 30 years of age at the start of employment;
- registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year; and intending to return to school during the next academic year
- a student in a secondary, post-secondary, vocational or technical program
- Is a Canadian citizen, or a permanent resident of Canada

The Safety City Coordinator will be assisting the Program Coordinator with projects, programs, and activities for Grande Prairie & Area Safe Communities and Safety City.
This role will support our mission to promote public safety and reduce the incidence of injury in Grande Prairie & Area through the maintenance and operation of Safety City and other programs designed to educate the public in safety and injury prevention.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage Admissions to Safety City
- Assist with program administration
- Coordinate birthday parties, as scheduled
- Assist with Home Alone programs
- Assist in facilitating summer programs
- Assist in facility set up and light maintenance
- Assist with general administration tasks
- Maintain a positive profile for Grande Prairie & Area Safe Communities
- Manage daily activities of Safety City: admission, maintaining cleanliness & safe operation of activities
- Perform other related tasks as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- First Aid Certification
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
- Experience with Microsoft Office products is an asset
- Ability to think critically and take initiative
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills and time management
- Experience in working with children is an asset
